I checked with Bestop customer service and according to them this item is supposed to fit my 2013 Wrangler Sport Unlimited however after ordering this product for myself I too discovered that it doesn't fit without modifications including removing and cutting plastic trim on the vehicle, drilling a hole that doesn't exist and cutting a 3x3 inch notch in the steel on the right side of the item to allow for proper tail gate operation. Not exactly an easy 15 minute job.

Bestop Product #42636 is not designed properly for the 2013 Jeep Wrangler Sport Unlimited in-spite of their claims. Can you make it work, yes. In order to do so you will need a hand grinder or some other tool that can cut 1/8 inch steel, a drill and 3/8 inch bit to drill a hole in addition to the tools that are listed by Bestop. The directions are in error, the hole on the floor doesn't exist so you must drill one. Also it is not carpet that requires removal but plastic trim. The Instatrunk itself is of high quality (that is why I gave it 2 stars)and in older vehicles it probably is a 15 minute job. I ended up spending at least six hours on making this work though. The biggest flaw of all is the lack of a notch in the steel on the right side to accommodate the opening and closing of the tailgate mechanism (so you must cut one).

How could Bestop fix this and correctly market this item for 2013 Jeep Wranglers:
1. Rewrite the instructions.
2. Cut a notch in the right side to accommodate the tailgate opening and closing.
3. Provide replacement trim for the upper (above box) only on both sides that will accommodate the seat-belt mechanisms. OEM trim is not needed where the Instatrunk contacts the vehicle and is actually in the way and must be cut if you choose to leave it in place. If a solution were provided for the trim in this way then the customer could remove both trim panels intact and store them away to be used again should the Instatrunk be take out for some reason.
