Kawasaki 99994-0238 Passenger Floorboard Kit Review

The floorboards I purchased were for the Vulcan 1700 Classic & Classic LT. They were double the price of the ones for the Vaquero although they appear identical in the photos. The Vaquero comes from the factory with passenger floorboards already installed whereas the Classic and Classic LT come with foot pegs. Mounting brackets wouldn't be necessary for the Vaquero since the bike is already equipped with them. Anyone who is buying them for the Vaquero is doing so to replace damaged or broken floorboards. All I can figure is the ones for the Classic and Classic LT come with the mounting hardware where the ones for the Vaquero don't. That would justify the higher price. I've seen other photos of Kawasaki Floorboards for the Vaquero where the underside is black instead of chrome. Since many sellers use the same photo for certain items, it might be a good idea to ask the seller if the underside of these floorboards is black or chrome. Since the Vaquero is blacked out, the black floorboards would look best on it but not for the Classic or Classic LT.
I bought mine to replace the foot pegs. They were very easy to install but a little bit tricky to assemble. There are two springs and ball bearings per floorboard which lock the floorboard in the up position when not in use. The ball bearings have to be compressed between the mounting bracket. The problem I had was with the ball bearings falling out when I tried to put it in the bracket. I used a little dab of Vaseline on the springs and ball bearings which held the bearings in place. Grease would also work but is a little bit more messy to clean off the chrome. Either way, for extended life of the product, be sure to lubricate the ball bearings even though the instructions don't say to do so. Assembly of the second floorboard went much easier. Once they were installed they look great and are fully functional. They match the style of the front floorboards perfectly. My wife likes them much better than the pegs and they also protect my chrome pipes from shoe marks. I had considered buying the Cobra floorboards and although Cobra makes some great products, they were more expensive and didn't match my front floorboards. When you stop and think about it, two hundred bucks is a little steep for something to rest your feet on. Motoprcycle accessories are expensive and that's just the nature of the beast. It pays to shop around for the best price. I got mine for $199.99 with free shipping. That was the absolute best deal on the internet. Many of the other accessories on my bike are made by Cobra, Kuryakan,and Show Chrome which were priced lower than the genuine Kawaski accessories. That was not the case with these floorboards. The genuine Kawasaki parts are your best bet for this item.
