Kawasaki K46001-340 Replacement Windshield Review

Purchased and installed the O.E.M Kawasaki Concours Tall Windshield (part #K46001-340) on my 2008 Concours. Found the original windscreen to be to small which is the reason for modifications on the 2010 and beyond. The windscreen was very easy to install, looks and works great. I am 6'1" tall and the old windscreen would allow wind to flow into my eyes and face but this new windscreen corrects all that. There is even an ever so slight bend in the top third of the screen to allow airflow to go completely over my head when it is fully extended. Highly recomend this windscreen for taller riders with the O.E.M. screen on the 2008 or 2009 Concours.

GT Styling 51669 Solarwing II Rear Window Deflector Review

I too, have never seen another beetle with one of these. I saw a newer model with something like it but white and smaller. I don't really know what this wing does, as the Beetle's aerodynamics are poor and this thing isn't too circular. However, it looks pretty interesting, and is better than the trunk mounted wings out there. The tape is good, but it is loose on one end, it has been that way since day one. Not really loose but the end can be pressed down a mm or two. When I was wiping the area down, I got some of the included cleaning formula on the wing, and it left some sort of stain. It 'looks' like a sticky residue, but I can't feel anything. Kind of like the plastic melted slightly so be careful when installing and get a second hand to assist. I think the wing is very secure, and with my TDI diesel I haven't noticed a difference in MPG. I think that this wing makes the airflow detach earlier and moves the turbulent air forward and up a bit from being directly behind the rear window. This may be good or bad.

Overall the price is satisfactory, but I may end up removing it and experimenting with Air Tabs and a Caractere wing on the trunk.

This one is for the boat, 3.0L Merc. It fits under the motor hatch and has a slick look to it. I am not expecting a HP boost from this bolt on, but we'll see if it breathes better the next trip to the river.

I did have to grind the inlet seat down as it was maybe 1mm to small for my carb...which is the stock carb for the Merc 3.0L and I had to put a longer lock post on the carb...no problem, 1/4" threaded stainless rod is easy to find at Lowes
